We're bridging the critical gap between disaster onset and public safety communications infrastructure restoration.
Beacon Mid-Atlantic is a specialized 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing professional-grade emergency communications to disaster-stricken communities.
We exist to ensure connectivity for first responders, emergency coordination centers, and relief organizations when traditional networks fail due to hurricanes, floods, or infrastructure damage. We don't just bring radios; we bring solutions.
Founded by a group of public safety professionals and radio communications experts, Beacon was born from a simple observation: during major disasters, the "last mile" of communication is often the first to break.
We recognized that while federal and state assets are powerful, they take time to deploy. Beacon was built to be agile; capable of deploying lightweight, independent infrastructure within hours of an event to support the immediate response phase. We also support the missions and operations of VOADs, something often overlooked by federal and state agencies.
Optimized for rapid deployment. Our equipment cases are pre-packed, battery-powered, and ready to move.
We do not rely on the grid. Our systems are self-sufficient, utilizing solar and battery backup for extended operations.
We never self-deploy. We integrate directly into the Incident Command System of local authorities and our partner organizations.
We are more than radio operators. Our membership includes professionals from diverse backgrounds who train year-round.
